Enhanced CMS renewal (Version 3.0)

Currently we are working to re-build the CMS completely to Version 3.0 for the following reasons -

  • Optimalisation for Search engines.
Using parameters in the URL is not very Search Engine friendly and also does not give a clear indication to the visitor when listed in a search engine result.
This can be overcome by using the page name in the URL. Together with certain web server settings it can be made even easier for the visitors.
  • Incorporate controlled user access.
By allowing multiple users to access the CMS with different access rights it is possible to implement a clear business process around publishing website content.
  • Template editing using the CMS.
Currently creating and editing templates is a process outside the CMS which needs to be done by the developer/designed. The new CMS will also hold the templates editable by users with the appropriate rights.
  • Better image management and usage.
The existing CMS allows only one image to be uploaded per article which is often not enough. With CMS V3 images are managed separately and can be used throughout the website.
  • Many more ...
Next to this there will be many more improvements be made.

The idea is that current A-Vision CMS users can upgrade their system for a reduced price.

What is a Content Management System ?

Content management systems (CMS) — also known as Web content management (WCM) — are systems used to facilitate collaborative digital content creation.

How it works.

How it works.

A CMS allows the designers to focus on design by building templates while subject experts build content in a separate environment. The server takes the content, inserts it into the correct template and sends it all, neatly wrapped up, to end users. But that is just the technology side of CM systems.

So we will create a template for you, using your design of the website after which you will 'fill' the website with the content you like.
Of course instructions will be given on how to use the A-Vision CMS (download the QuickReference)

More benefits.

Content Management Systems other aspect is the way it addresses your workflow. Of course it is great to separate the design from the content, but CM gives you also the possibility to streamline how your designs get approved. Before publishing the design and content to the CMS / Webserver you are be able to preview and approve it. Once it is approved, it can be published.

A-Vision CMS

The A-Vision CMS uses Templates for the design. That are complete internet pages to which dynamic data will be added at the moment the page will be viewed on the internet.
The CMS is base on the programming language PHP in combination with the MySQL database. These facilities are most common for every Linux web hosting.

The CMS is controlled using a special administration page which can be accessed by the person who maintains the website. Depending on the allowed rights this person can add/edit/remove pages and also add/edit/remove articles. This CMS also has possibilities to place a so-called picture slide show.

List of websites using the A-Vision CMS

To see how a website can look alike build with the A-Vision CMS, check one of the websites below. They're all different but have the same heart.

A very nice website designed by B Savvy - Creative Business Solutions which has a special 'Photo gallery' page which is been altered within the template using JavaScript.

This website is basically a copy of the www.kiwisstat.com and www.ausstat.com.au website. It took no longer than a day to have it up and running.

This is a very special website using the A-Vision CMS which is integrated with an on-line shopping system built by A-Vision as well. For that reason the CMS had to be altered slightly to open an altered 'copy' of the template in a sub-folder. Version 2.6 is released for this reason.

This was an existing website whereas the layout has to be the same but now managed using the A-Vision CMS to make it easy for a general staff member to maintain the website.

The same as for the website mentioned above is done for this website.

The first fully operational website started to build with Version 1.1, but now installed and maintained with Version 2.0
This website also has a photo slideshow which is automatically build from the selected photos placed by articles. When you click on a photo you're automatically redirected to the article whereas the photo is placed.
